About SocketPanel
SocketPanel is an independent UK guide to plug-in solar: what a kit would save you, which kits are approved, and the rules, all from official sources.
How we check
- Rules come from the government (DESNZ), Ofgem, the Energy Saving Trust, the Planning Portal and network operators. Every point names its source, and every page lists them.
- The kit list is copied from the Energy Networks Association's official register, with the date we copied it. We don't add or remove kits.
- Savings use the EU's PVGIS solar data and Ofgem's price cap. The method is on the savings page.
- We don't use forums, retailers' marketing or other plug-in solar sites as sources.
- Where only one official source covers something, we say whose guidance it is.
Independence
We don't sell solar kits and aren't paid by any manufacturer, retailer, network operator or the Energy Networks Association. If we ever add links that earn us a commission, they'll be labelled, and they won't change which kits we list or what we say about them.
